Raiffeisenbank Vorarlberg to be the twelfth Austrian financial institution participating in the Swiss interbank payment system for francs, SIC. The following banks are also going to become SIC-participants as of the beginning of July: the Winterthur branch of AXA Bank Belgium, Crédit Agricole Financements (Suisse) SA and Bank Zweiplus. The latter two will participate in the euro payment system, euroSIC.

Four more banks to become Swiss interbank payment systems participants as of 2nd June: ING Bank N.V. is going to be the third Dutch financial institution to join the Swiss franc payment system SIC. Thus, SIC encompasses 62 direct participants in total from outside of Switzerland. The Geneva NBK Banque Privée (Suisse) S.A. and Kaupthing Bank Luxembourg S.A. will connect to both, to SIC and to the euro payment system, euroSIC. With Bordier & Cie a further Geneva bank will join euroSIC.

euroSIC through TARGET2: The European Central Bank’s new TARGET2 single shared platform began operation on November 19, 2007. In addition to the central banks of Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Austria, Slovenia and Cyprus, the Deutsche Bundesbank has also established a connection to the new common platform and on this date discontinued RTGSplus, its real-time gross settlement system. The Swiss RTGS system, euroSIC, which until now has processed euro payments from Switzerland in the euro payment zone and vice versa, now offers access to 22 EU countries through the TARGET2 Bundesbank scheme (TARGET2-BBk)

UBS is the first Swiss financial institution to confirm its participation in SEPA: Switzerland’s largest bank has signed the adherence agreement for participation in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) and sent it to Swiss Interbank Clearing, the Swiss NASO (National Adherence Support Organisation) for forwarding to the European Payments Council (EPC). The need for information about swisseuroGATE is correspondingly large. A new, compact overview of euro payment traffic, including practical examples, is now available under the section "Payment system for euros".
Some new features:
